Goodyear Amiens-Nord site (Somme) — total closure 22 January 2014
Rationale & context
Closure of historical Goodyear site at Amiens-Nord after 7 years of social conflict (2007-2014). Goodyear wanted to close the site as early as 2007, triggering exceptional union mobilization (kidnapping of Goodyear executives in 2014 — separate judicial case for CGT leaders). Final protocol signed 22 January 2014. Six years later (2020), Amiens Labour Court ruled in favour of 800 former employees and declared the closure ECONOMICALLY UNJUSTIFIED — Goodyear condemned. Historical case of AFTER-THE-FACT use of labour courts to retroactively annul a PSE whose execution is already complete. Demonstrates the value of individual judicial recourse even after collective PSE execution.

Severance

What employees received — legal base, supra-legal, caps
Legal / collective indemnity
This is the minimum guaranteed by your sector's collective agreement. Paid to every affected employee on top of the statutory legal indemnity.
Tire industry collective indemnity (chemical industry)
Underlying formula ·
Supra-legal top-up
The amount negotiated by unions ON TOP OF the legal and collective minimum. Often the largest part of the package.
2014 supra-legal details poorly public. But in 2020: Labour Court condemned Goodyear for dismissal without real and serious cause — retroactive compensation for 800 plaintiffs (individualized amounts not published).
Notice period
Period between the dismissal notification and the actual departure. The employee remains paid during this time, whether they work or not.
Not specified in the PSE.
Collective minimum · Rubber / tire industry agreement (IDCC 0045) — Managers: 3 months. Non-managers: 1 to 2 months by seniority.
Example — rough estimate
For a non-manager employee with 5 years of seniority and €3,500 gross/month:
Collective severance(1.25 months × €3,500)€4,375
Supra-legal severanceNot publicly disclosed

Very rough illustrative estimate. Your actual amount depends on your exact reference salary (max of 1/12 of last 12 months or 1/3 of last 3 months, bonuses included — art. R1234-4 French Labour Code), your precise status (manager/non-manager/ETAM), your hire date and your individual situation. Notes
Emblematic 7-year social conflict (2007-2014) ended by the closure of Goodyear Amiens-Nord on 22 January 2014. 1,143 jobs eliminated. Protocol agreement signed 22 January 2014 between Goodyear and CGT at Amiens prefecture. Six years later, on 28 May 2020, the Amiens Labour Court ruled in favour of 800 former employees who contested the economic justification of their dismissal: the closure was ruled UNJUSTIFIED and Goodyear was condemned for dismissal without real and serious cause. Former employees retroactively compensated. Exceptional case of RETROACTIVE judicial annulment of a PSE 6 years after site closure.
